Embracing Nature - Natural Materials Continue to Take Center Stage
Nature has always been an enduring muse for interior designers, and in recent years, we’ve seen more and more designers rethinking designs to be more sustainable and better for our health. The spotlight will continue to shine on this in 2024. Incorporating natural materials (think wool, timber, natural stone etd.) and bringing the outdoors inside with plants creates spaces that exude warmth and authenticity.
The natural materials continue to appear in furniture design but also as accent pieces and structural elements in new builds as more builders get excited about working with natural materials. Good interior design is all about balance, and with most structural elements being square (for good reasons, engineering-wise!), softening these edges with curves and organic shapes is essential to harmonise your home. In 2023, the arches had their come-back, and in 2024, we’ll see even more curves emerge, offering a sense of fluidity and grace to our homes.
