About Me
Looking back over my career, the moments that brought me the most joy were helping others and making a difference in their lives. I’ve supported people through facilitation, coaching, analytics, and research. COVID-19 taught us that our homes are places of regeneration and doing what we love. I started Nadia Sorensen Interior Design to help people live their best lives at home.
Born and raised in Denmark, my background shines through in my minimalistic style and passion for mindful living. I graduated from the Danish Design and Crafts School in 2009 and developed skills in various areas, such as ceramics, textile design and woodwork. In 2023, I achieved a certificate from the Interior Design Institute (IDI) and am a proud member of the Design Institute of Australia (DIA). I have an eye for detail and a foundational understanding of materials and how they work together. More importantly, I love helping my clients achieve their home dreams!
FAQs
I have a sentimental piece of furniture/art in my home that I want to preserve. Can you incorporate it into your design?
Absolutely! Most of us have furniture, art and other pieces of great sentimental value, and we want to share these with the people we love. In my initial design consultation, I’ll ask you to share the story behind these pieces to understand what they mean to you and why. I appreciate your trust in me to find the perfect space for those pieces to shine.
I have already found my builder - Can you work with them?
Sure, I’m happy to work with your preferred builder. I provide design management, which is the perfect supplement to your builder’s project management. We’ll all work together to deliver the home of your dreams!
Is the Scandinavian style the only style you work with?
It would be a lie to say that my Danish background doesn’t influence my design style. That said, I’m a big fan of other styles, e.g. Art Deco, and I have delivered designs in various styles in the past. You’d be surprised to see how different styles play on similar design principles to please the eye - but most important is YOUR style! And if you’re unsure of what it is, I’ll help you find it.
Do you do E-design?
No... Why? In my experience, meeting with clients F2F and getting a feel for their homes is a fundamental starting point for high-quality design solutions. E-design projects are often short, one-off online consultations with a quick drawing attached. I want my clients to get as much value from our consultation as possible, and I deliver my best designs when I experience your space.
How does your own home look like?
I live with a lovely Persian man, so our home is a wonderful mix of Scandinavian clean lines and a neutral palette mixed with a gorgeous colourful Persian rug. We all have sentimental pieces in our lives and things that make us feel at home. It’s important to me to incorporate our backgrounds into our shared home - your residence should be the same: a sacred haven where you feel at home.
